Hello everyone,

First of all, thanks for developing OpenForis! I only recently learned about and I really enjoy it so far.

I am planning to present OF to colleagues, yet, given the recent software updates, I am bit unsure about promoting OF as long-term solution for data collection & management. At our federal institute we cannot use cloud services such as AWS and services requiring Google accounts by default. As such, the combination of OF Collect Mobile with a internally hosted OF Collect Server and an internal PostgreSQL database is our current and preferred solution. However, it appears as if OF Collect and OF Collect Mobile will no longer receive updates and eventually will not be maintained anymore. Does OF Arena allow using local servers instead of AWS cloud? Or are there any plans to introduce this feature in the future to fully replace OF Collect/Collect mobile?

Best wishes

Dear user,
Arena can be installed in a local server with Docker, here you can find the Open Foris Arena Docker container.
Collect and Collect Mobile will still be supported by our team, but they won't receive any major new features. For new projects, we recommend you to use Arena/Arena Mobile instead.
We will contact you to your private email address to better understand your needs and to help you setting up your server with Arena.
Many thanks,
Open Foris Team
